WEEK 05

 After discussion with tutor and realizing the time is limited for this project, I decided to only focus on my container design without further due.

As this container is meant to store the composted soil of human body, Ms Aziah said it can not just be a" like-any-other" container, it must has some design or metaphors for this one as it meant a lot to the family members.

I have come out with two designs of the container, one is inspired by the tree rings as it signify the age of a tree; while the other one is inspired by fish scale for the same reason.

  

Progresses:

I decided to try out making it by using air dry clay. This was my first time trying out this material thus the outcome is not as I expected, thus, I decided to switch it to material which I am more familiar with.

I tried to melt the PET bottle to create a fish-scale-like piece to stick on the spray-painted bowl.

This material is easier in making the container, but it do not achieve my expectation. I have decided to think over again and explore more in material or method of making this fish scale look.

Although I failed in model making by using air dry clay and PET bottle, I gained more insights of these two's workability and move on to further exploration. 

Hopefully I will found some design which can express my design intention of this container at the same time be aesthetically pleasing.
